SNMP is important to collect data from network devices. In this example, Cisco ASA and SNMP Manager can be seen, below. Switch and router can be added on this example as well. TCP 161, and UDP 162 port number can be used regarding trap and log management.
This is a basic SNMP application to test your environment. You can check different type of professional vendors for SNMP server.
For example, SNMP manage can get data from ASA using OID section/number, on the left side toolbar, below.
There are different type of version SNMP. Version 3, including encryption and authorization, is more secure than v1 and v2.
